last days of summer

I am still here - just taking in the last few days of summer. It won't be long before our nature study won't include flying insects. Right now we have a (live) butterfly as our kitchen table centerpiece enjoying fresh cut flowers and fruit. It broke of a portion of its wing in the storm a few nights ago and was rescued by one of our poor-creature saving girls. I love the outdoors and the wonder in the girl's eyes as they learn more about God's amazing creation.

Our first session on the farm

Here is a glimpse from our first photo session at the farm. It is such a pleasure to take this little one's pictures. She is two now and on the GO.... that means healthy and we praise God for that! Hope you enjoy these pictures momma that you worked so hard to get! : ) The rest are coming soon.

Oh, and the ending shot.... that is my trusty partner. I should just call her 'Quick Draw McGraw' with those amazing chase 'em down and shoot 'em skills. Way to go, cow poke!!

Sweet Katie!

Our family had the pleasure this summer to get to know, Miss Katie, a sweet young lady with a heart to serve the Lord. She has been a blessing to us all and we will miss her. We appreciate her spirit that she came to serve Kansas with and will cherish the memories made with her. We will miss her and the Arkansasian education! : ) Thank you Katie…..we love you and hope to see you again soon.

a little quiet time......

We had our first of many weekends with our precious blessing B. I spent Saturday with just my two little ones. It rained the majority of the day so my plans for some fun pics on the farm were out. Instead I found myself relaxing, leaving the never ending mess, and content just drinking in the time with her. This was a wonderful day and an important reality check for me. I was reminded how rarely we rest. It is not enough with with my family and sadly to say not near enough with my heavenly Father. It is a constant struggle to pull away from the American way and western mindset that compels us to fill our calendar with many wonderful things. But, at what expense? If we don't schedule family time, and more important quiet time, our schedule begins running us. I don't believe this is how we are to live. In Psalm 46:10a, we are told, "Be still, and know that I am God." So, again I resolve to be still....
